"hello. i am going to man utd v wolsburg away in germany on december the 7 and i was wondering is there any bars, pubs around the ground many thanks simon, great site lads"
Wolfsburg is a small town (think somewhere like Northwich) and there are only a few bars in the town centre which is 10mins walk from stadium. The town is dominated by the Volkswagon plant and is quite industrial. Nice stadiumthough
"I am going to the Milan derby in the new year(Jan 24/25)and I would just like a bit of advice about going to the San Siro(transport advice etc from centre of Milan)plus is it advisable to get to the stadium early and do you think I should carry my passport with me?"
Thanks for getting in touch. Easiest way to the stadium is to get the red metro to Lotto and then walk - it is about 20 minutes straight down alongside the race track. Buses do run from the metro but they get very busy. I always aim to get there at least an hour before as the hardcore tifosi will be in full swing by then. You need to prove your identity and I have used a copy of my passport and driving licence before. A passport is ok but keep it in a zipped up pocket just to be safe.
"Gota trip booked to budapest 10th to 15 th December 2009 and want to taek in a Hungarian NB1match. I see Budapest has several local teams but we're willing to travel for a trip outwith the city too. Wondered if you have any advice on particular teams to try and watch? Is it easy to get tickets I imagine? Just two scottish boys looking to have a bit of banter and mix with the locals!! Any help or advice appreciated!! Great site by the way."
Thanks for getting in touch. I believe that the Hungarian league goes on its winter break after the 5th December! I have had a look for some games but cannot see anything on on the dates you are there....I am sure you will find some other stuff to do there - it is a great city.
Thursday 29th January 2009 "Great site lads. Is there anywhere (bars, squares etc.) in Munich I can go to try get a ticket for Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund on match day? or is ebay.de my best bet? Thanks."
"Hi Michael,
One option that is normally very good is to use http://www.seatwave.com. They source local legit tickets for most games and we use them quite a lot for German and Italian games. One other option may to go onto the Bayern fans forum and simply ask if anyone has any spares - spin a yarn about how its been a life's ambition to watch Munich etc.
Failing that Ebay.de may yield some tickets. The fans don't really have one city centre place where they all go. Hoffbrauhaus is popular and is opposite the Bayern shop in Orlandestrasse and that may be a good starting point.
Good luck."
Sunday 12th October 2008 "In Riga May 8-11 2009 and would love to see some Latvian football any ideas of how to get tickets"
The average attendance in the Latvian top division is less than 1,000 so you will have no problems getting a ticket on the day of the game out there. The new season's fixtures are normally out in the first weeks of January.
Sunday 27th August 2008 "We are staying in Benidorm from 16/09 to 23/09 and would like the opportunity to catch some live Spanish football. Please can you advise what games are playing over this period and whether the distance to staduims is appropriate for travel? I have noticed Valencia are playing CA Osasuna on 21/09 at home. What is the distance to this staduim and are there tickets available?"
Valencia is a couple of hours away by bus from Benidorm and you would have no issues getting a ticket for a game. They are sold up until kick off from the windows on the south west corner of the Stadium. As neither team is in the Champions League I doubt if this game will be moved to the Saturday night. Valencia normally kick off at 8pm local time. Alicante is actually nearer and they are at home on the 21st to Real Sociedad. They play at the relatively new Jose Rico Perez stadium in the city centre which holds over 30,000 so getting a ticket will not be an issue.
Benidorm does have a team of its own, in the 3rd tier of Spanish football but I cannot see if they are at home or not. Their stadium is in Calle de Capitain.
Tuesday 15th July 2008 "Did the San Siro three years ago, then the Nou Camp last year. Now fancy a Bundesliga game but dates seem to be Fridays - are all games played on a Friday evening?"
Bundesliga games are played at fixed times. One will be on a Friday night at 8pm, six will be on Saturday at 3.30pm and 2 will be on Sunday at 5pm. Tickets for some games (such as Bayner Munich, Leverkusen, Bremen, Dortmund and Schalke) can be very hard to come by. A good day out is Hertha Berlin where tickets are relatively easy to pick up or Hannover which is also quite lively at night. A list of fixtures for this season can be found here -http://bundesliga.de/de/liga/matches/2008/index.php
"I thought there are 2 teams in Liverpool ? Or is your site only for Norwegians"
Not at all...As you will see from the site there is very little content about UK teams as the site is designed for people based in UK who want to travel abraod. Liverpool (anfield) is there because it was a chapter in my book - which was basically a guide for those clubs who are in the Champions League. No favouritism or bias - after all as a West Ham fan you will see an absence of the Hammers on the site!
Sunday 13th July 2008 "I will be in Denmark the first weekend in August and would like to go to a Brondby game. Tickets are not a problem to get I imagine but do you have any tips or info about going to this stadium? where is the best place to sit also- I will be coming from Roskilde. Thanks for any info"
As long as you aren't planning on seeing the game versus FCK then you can buy tickets pre match from the club shop on the west of the stadium. No other game gets iover 15,000 so you will be fine. Get there early and go to the east side of the stadium to the 1968 Bar which is very good for a beer and some food before the game. Don't leave it too late to get there by public transport as the buses from Glostrup get very busy. I always stand on the Faxe Tribune, but the seats in the upper tier are also worth going for.
Saturday 12th July 2008 "How can I purchase tickets for games being played at the Olympic Stadium Barcelona?"
Depends on who you want to see - for normal Espanyol games see our section on Barcelona by clicking here. For the game between Andorra and England, ticket details from teh Andorran FA have not yet been released although based on the poor crowd last year getting tickets in any part of the stadium will not be an issue.
Tuesday 8th July 2008 "Can you purchase tickets for Borussia Dortmund matches on the day of the game at the stadium?"
It is unlikely unless they are either playing a European tie or a game versus a really small team such as Hoffheim, Wolfsburg or Karlsruhe. Most tickets are gone by the day of the game BUT you can book them in advance and pick them up at the stadium. If you cannot make head nor tail of the website give me a shout and I will help you through the process. You can also look on Ebay.de as there are dozens of tickets for sale on there and it is perfectly legal to buy them (unlike ebay.co.uk).
Monday 7th July 2008 "I'm in the south of France in August and want to fit in a Marseille match, do you think I should order tickets online before I go or will it be easy to get them while I'm over there? Also, do you think its wise to take the missus and is there any stands to avoid? Great books by the way!"
Always worth getting them in advance. Amazingly enough the stadium has never sold out so getting a ticket is easy. As long as the weather is nice (which in August it should be) then head for the huge open stand - The Tribune Ganay- you get a great view of the action on and off the pitch and your wife can enjoy the sunshine. As long as they are not playing PSG or Lyon then there will be no risk of trouble in the stadium. Tickets can be bought from the OM Cafe in Vieuw Port, the Tourist Office or online at http://www.om.net. Enjoy it - the fans do create a great atmosphere and thanks for the feedback on the book.
Wednesday 3rd June 2008 "Really enjoyed your 2006 world Cup Book and now reading 2008 before going to Salzburg. I will be cutting it fine to get to Salzburg airport from the stadium. Your book says the ground is by the airport runway. Can i walk to the airport? If not given the main road is it easy to get taxis from the Shopping park nearby? Keep up the good work
Thanks for the feedback. Walking is probably a bit far but a taxi can do the job as the terminal building is on the far side of the runway. A tip would be to head to teh Casino on the south side of the stadium and get a taxi from there - alternatively get the bus 2 towards the city centre, changing at Maxglen onto line 1 for the stadium. Have a look at the map on http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl and you will see how close it is.
Thursday 29th May 2008 "I am going to Krakow for a weekend and hope to take in a football match. Is it safe or will i be taking my life in my hands ?
The Wisla v Cracovia derby is a bit hairy but normal games are fine. Wisla's stadium is more modern. Both are located on west of city centre across a park from each other.
Thursday 8th May 2008 "Excellent site I cannot understand why I have never been on the site before considering the number of hours I (waste (wife's view)) spend researching plus the fact I have all Stuart's books and his assistance on euro peice for last groundtastic. With the close season now approaching I think this will be an invaluable site to help me plan a few juants Well done

Thursday 10th April 2008 "Hi guys- love the website. Could you possibly give me some info on purchasing tickets for either B Dortmund/ Shalke 04 home games please. thank you"
Despite both clubs having the highest average attendances in Germany, tickets can be found for most games. German Ebay (http://www.ebay.de) regularly sells tickets for each club - just make sure you buy from a trader with a high feedback score and lots of ratings. Alternatively have a look at the respective club sites. FC Schalke are currently selling tickets online for the game on the 20th April versus Energie Cottbus. Tickets are priced from €11 for a standing place to a VIP seat at €55. In between there are good options at €35 and €42. The ticket office site is http://www.ts-ticketshop.de or they can be called on +45 1803 150810.
Dortmund have tickets on sale for their 3 last remaining games online at the moment at http://www.bvb.de and then click on the ticket menu in the top bar. They range in price from €11.50 in the stadning Kop to €52 in the main stand. A good bet for the neutral is in the Kat 3 places at €35.
Monday 1st April 2008 "Im trying to obtain a champions league final ticket. Would you know how I could buy one so i can come and view your beautiful city?!"
As there is a very good chance that at least one English team will be in Moscow, possibly two, tickets will be in very short supply for the final this year. The official sale period ended a few weeks ago via UEFA.com and those supporters lucky enough to be allocated a ticket are being informed this week. With each club only getting around 25,000 tickets there will not be enough to go round. Therefore you only real hope is via sites like Ebay.de.
Monday 25th March 2008 "Afternoon gents, love your work. I'm planning on going over to Madrid for the Barca game on 7th May. The internet touts are looking for £350+ and I'm hearing conflicting news on the chances of touting it, a lot say don't bother but a very experienced travelling mate of mine (Steve Smith who appears elsewhere on your site) managed ot get a ticket on the day for the game in Barca in Dec. What's your honest opinion? I'm hoping as the games a Wed pm I'll stand a chance. I'll pay around £150 (for a ticket, not an opinion)"
We are asked questions about tickets for Real Madrid than on any other subject. Generally, tickets are sold on the day of the game up until lunchtime, although for games kicking off early in the afternoon they stop selling at 12pm. Despite its high profile, this fixture rarely sells out. Real Madrid have a core of members who attend games (approx 60,000), with the remaining members either selling their seat back to the club, or selling them outside the stadium prior to the game. What you find in Spain is that ticket touting is rare - what you will find are individuals who want to sell their single seats outside the stadium, and rarely for a huge mark up. I have attended this fixture in the past and paid the equivilent of £65 for a decent ticket. It may be worth calling the club as well as they speak good English and may even hold a couple of tickets back for you - they have done something similar for other fans in the past although not for this game.
Sunday 2nd March 2008 "Can tickets for AC Milan be bought at the gate? I am thinking of attending a game in April and would like to know the rough price?"
Unfortunately due to the recent crowd trouble in Italy, tickets are no longer available to purchase on the day of the game. You can however purchase tickets for AC Milan via their website at http://www.acmilan.com. You can either pick these up direct from the stadium or have them sent to the UK, time permitting. You can also still purchase tickets from the stadium office or club shops prior to the day of the game. Milan's shop is very central, a five minute walk from the Duomo. Sell outs are very rare at the San Siro. In terms of ticket prices, well you can pay €11 for a lower tier seat right up to €270 for a VIP one. Try and avoid the lower tier where the fences restrict the view, and also the south middle tier where the hardcore milan fans are. A good bet for the neutral is an Orange 2nd tier ticket which should cost around €50. If you go for the top tier then allow plenty of time (and puff!) to reach the gods - and wrap up warm even in April.
"When will the Budget Airlines Guide to European Football be available again?"
At the moment this book is out of print. As a self-publisher I have to fund each book print very carefully and unfortunately some of the larger high street chains have not paid me from stock delivered 9 months ago.
"I am thinking of taking in a game in Nantes. Most games seem to be played on Fridays and Tuesdays - is this correct?"
Since Nantes relegation last season they have dropped out of the central TV deal with Canal + and so are less likely to change their home games from a Friday night which the club's supporters seem to prefer. They have occasionally played on a Tuesday but Friday is the most prefered option.
"I wish to trade good and talented football players from Cameroon to any of the leagues, so what should I do. Thank You"
Err....pass
"Can I see all of the matches that Man Utd will play at Old Trafford this year."
Yes - purchase a season ticket!
"I am going to Paris to watch England play France in March 2008. I need to purchase 3 tickets but am not an England member. Any ideas?"
"I am looking to buy 2 tickets for the Panathinaikos game on the 21st February against Rangers FC - can you assist?"
Due to the crowd problems they have had in Greece over the past few seasons, most clubs do not offer an online facility and you have to purchase tickets from the club ticket office. This game is a high profile one, and unless you can purchase tickets from Glasgow Rangers it may be difficult buying these in advance.
