Many thanks to everyone who took time to complete our recent European Football Travel Survey.  The results make quite interesting reading.

Question 1 - What is the best city you have watched football in?
Amazingly the top answer here was Tel Aviv which got 8% of the votes, closely followed by Barcelona 7%, Munich 7% and Lisbon 6%.  Most suprising answer was one vote for Baku - whoever voted for this must not get out much!

Question 2 - Is there one place you have gone abroad to watch football and would never go back to?
Overwhelming answer on this one with over 70% of the vote was Moscow.  In second place was Bratislava with 10%, and Madrid with 5%.  Suprise answer here with one vote was Tel Aviv - due to security at Airport....

Question 3 - If you have travelled abroad to watch football, have you used a travel company on an organised trip?
73% have used the likes of SportOps

Question 4 - Which of the following stadiums have you visited?  Top 10 answers were:-
Amsterdam ArenA - 73% of participants had visited the Amsterdam ArenA
Nou Camp Barcelona - 65%
Veltins Arena Gelsenkirchen - 62%
Stade de France Paris - 60%
Estadio Bernabau Madrid - 55%
San Siro Milan - 32%
Allianz Arena Munich -32%
Stadio Olimpico Rome - 26%
De Kuip Rotterdam  - 26%
PSV Stadium Eindhoven - 24%

Question 5 - Which three stadiums would you like to visit more than any other?
Top answers here were the Allianz Arena (71% of the votes), San Siro (65%) and the Bernabau (62%).  Further afield 22% wanted to visit the Maracana in Rio and 20% the Boca Juniors stadium.  One person wanted to visit the Peace stadium in North Korea - which whilst being the biggest in the world at 150,000 is certainly the one you are most likeliest to be detained at

Question 6 - What information do you need to get before you travel abroad to watch a game?
How to find and reach the stadium was the top answer with 82% of the answers, followed by public transport and ticket information with 65% each.  It seems that people are least interested in info about the home club with just 11% wants to find this out before they travel.

Question 7 - In 2007 how many games did you watch abroad.
The most popular answer was 5 with 26% of people giving that answer, followed closely by 10 (22%) and 3 (21%).  The average answer was 4.

Question 8 - On average how much do you spend a year on watching any football abroad.
No surprise here based on the miles we have covered watching England that over 75% of people spend more than £1,200 per annum. Only 6% of people spend less than £400.

Question 9 - When you travel abroad to watch games, on average how many people travel with you?
Over 54% of people travel in a group of 1 to 3.  31% travel in a group of 4 to 8 and 12% travel on their own.

Question 10 - Which of the following would be a useful addition to this website
Translation of how to buy tickets - 30%
Direct Links to the club ticket office - 21%
Download of stadium information - 20%
Direct links to hotel booking engines  - 15%
Direct links to airline booking engines - 14%
